summer activities!
August 16-17 Colorado Fourteeners Initiative
Help continue progress on Lincoln and Democrat.
Volunteers needed for both days! Go to
www.14ers.org to register --you MUST PRE-REGISTER to
volunteer for this project!!!
Volunteers will help with trail construction, restoration
efforts, and post signs needed to help reestablish legal
access to these popular Fourteeners. CFI is working closely
with the US Forest Service and landowners to design a trail
route that reaches these beautiful summits while mitigating
recreation impacts and respecting the needs of the local
land owners.
August-September MRHI Mapping Project
We have an amazing mapping professional working this
summer for MRHI named Bruce Metzger. Our goal is to
map as many trails as possible in our work area by this
fall. This is a gigantic project and you can make a
big difference by volunteering so we can cover more ground.
We need early risers willing to shuttle Bruce to key high
mountain locations --about 5-6 a.m. We also welcome
hikers who would be willing to help Bruce as he maps trails,
assisting with notes or equipment. He promises a
gentle pace and some amazing mountain scenery. The schedule
is flexible and we need people for August and September.
