Community Event

Community Wildfire Mitigation: Chipping Event

MRHI in collaboration with CUSP (Coalition of the Upper South Platte) are hosting a community chipping event in Valley of the Sun and Placer Valley. We will bring the chipper to your property, and our crews will support chipping of your stacked slash. To cover our costs there is $100 fee for 2 pickup truck's worth of slash.

DATE & LOCATION:

Friday 7/10 - Placer Valley
Saturday 7/11 - Valley of the Sun

TIME:

9AM - 4PM

TYPE:

Stewardship - Wildfire Mitigation

LEVEL:

All welcome, you will be working in uneven forest terrain

DETAILS:

Cost: $100 for up to 2 pickup truck's worth of slash.
1. Stack slash close to roadway or another area that is easily accessible.
2. Stack slash in orderly piles with all cut ends facing the accessible roadway. Make piles no taller than 4 feet. You must have slash already piled before we arrive.
3. Keep track of the time you spend gathering your slash in advance and how many acres you mitigate.
4. We cannot take root balls, trash, rocks, lumber, decomposing logs or pine needles. We also do not have capacity for  commercial projects. We will move on to the next property in that instance.
5. Be at home on assigned date & ready to assist loading chipper. We cannot promise an exact time because different property piles may vary but we will do our best to honor your selected time range. Have eye protection, long sleeve shirt, pants, and sturdy shoes.
If you are willing to assist a neighbor who is unable to gather their slash, please let us know. We will connect you to pull and stack the slash in advance.

If you are physically unable to collect your slash, we will try to find someone who can help in advance.
